From a Small Condo to a Citywide Service
Juujbox was born from a simple thought: Why does getting a few items in and out storage have to be such a hassle?
When Work Moved Home
In 2021, I (Ali Mirdamadi) started thinking seriously about creating a storage solution. The pandemic had shown people everywhere what I had experienced years earlier when I was working remotely from my condo in Little Italy — homes became offices overnight, and space disappeared.
I needed somewhere to store boxes and miscellaneous items, but every option required renting a truck, paperwork, and limited business hours. At the same time, UberEats was making delivery effortless. People were paying twenty dollars for a breakfast burrito delivered to their door, but no one had made storage that easy.

The Student Connection
Within weeks of launching, the first people to reach out were University of San Diego students preparing for summer break who needed somewhere to store their belongings. The next year, even more students reached out.
That was when I decided to focus on college storage, and we ended up handling storage for hundreds of students. Today, Juujbox is the largest provider of summer storage for students in San Diego, dedicating thousands of square feet of warehouse space each summer to store their belongings while they move out and move back in.

The Bin Hustle
In our first year, we provided cardboard boxes to customers. But one customer suggested using large plastic bins instead. I decided to test it.
That summer, I drove around every Walmart in San Diego buying every large black-and-blue storage bin I could find. I stuffed as many as possible into my car, spending entire evenings driving across the city to keep up with orders.
That experience confirmed we were onto something. The bins were more durable, reusable, and easier to handle. They became a key part of what makes Juujbox unique today.

Our First Warehouse
By spring 2024, we had outgrown our storage partners and signed our first warehouse lease in San Diego. We filled it quickly.
We added full-time team members and began partnering with local businesses to provide flexible storage services throughout the city.
Launching Moving Box Rentals
After that wild summer, my wife Christina suggested we rent the same durable bins for people moving within San Diego so they could skip the hassle of cardboard.
We listened and launched Juujbox Moving Box Rentals in 2024. It quickly became one of our most popular services, helping hundreds of customers move easily and sustainably.
Partnering with San Diego's Newest High-Rises
In early 2025, one of San Diego's newest luxury high-rises contacted us about a problem they were having. Their residents needed storage but the building had limited space.
We partnered with them to offer an easy pickup and delivery storage option for tenants, bringing the company full circle to my original idea of solving the space problem for people living and working in the city.

Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is simple: take care of the customer and everything else will fall into place.
To do that, we also have to take care of our team. The gig economy has shown that convenience should not come at the cost of worker stability.
We pay higher-than-average wages and are building a profit-sharing program that will allow employees to share in our growth and success as we expand.
Where We're Headed
Juujbox is redefining convenience for people who live in cities. What started as a simple idea has become a growing storage pickup and delivery service that helps students, residents, and businesses make space for what matters.
And we're just getting started.
